Face to Face Interviews & Seating Updates

Question: My students had a question about the interviews. Are teams allowed to have visual aids during the interview, such as a slideshow presentation? At the local qualifying events here in Hawaii, some teams had a digital presentation showing the interview judges while they interviewed, some had their logbooks, some had scripts that they read off of, etc.

Answer:  The intent of the interview is for judges to engage with students and not with audio/visual aids such as presentations or displays. The judges for the middle school championship have experience and have been trained to follow the REC Foundation judging protocols and rubrics, which focus on the rubrics and interview questions.
